Does anyone here have any experience using this resistivity system? If so, how do you think it stacks up against other systems: say the IRIS or ABEM-LUND products? Thanx

I have used IRIS syscal system and AGI sting systems, but not Allied Tigre Resistivity system. From what I heard, this system does not provide the ability for "roll along" surveys. "Roll along" is very important in field operations for long lines to save time and effort. I believe ABEM-LUND also provides the roll-along capacities, just like the IRIS and AGI systems.

I agree with xyz that roll along technique is very practical in the field operation. The allied Tigre system are not designed with roll along technique in mind. However, since it can connect up to 4 cables, roll along can be used with this system. Of course it adds logistic complexity for the data processing. You need to come up with a way or a program to change the electrodes positions automatically when you try to combine the data.

I think Allied Tigre Resisitivity System is not a bad choice for research purposes. It's similar to other systems. If the price is OK and you only do small scale surveys regularly, it's a good option.

Yeah, if you can get cheap labor like students, it's not a problem doing any surveys, with or without roll along.

Good info guys, thanks. I also found out that it has no built in "brain", you have to use a field computer to run it...that's another strike against it in my opinion.

My old laptop can only run about one hour on the battery.

It's annoying to think about carrying the charger and a transformer with your all the time during the survey. If I have to use the system, I will find a rugged field computer with long battery time and maybe extra batteries.
